That’s how long it is since their latest member, renowned guitarist Paul Thomas joined the band. "The Spur", as they are affectionately known by other musicians in their home county of Somerset, U.K. have been a prominent part of the musical establishment of the South West since 1970.

Over the years Dave Beck and the boys have lived through many changes in styles and trends, and have maintained their popularity throughout. They put this down to their early grounding in cabaret, and the country music concert venues that were prevalent at that time, where there was close contact between artiste and audience. Choice of material is another important factor; it has to be a comprehensive cross section of good country music, giving an interesting and varied program. But for a band to stay together and continue to maintain popularity for such a long time, they have to be happy with what they are doing, and convey that happiness to their audience.
